Most surveys only note the visible age of a consumer unit and recommend that an electrician inspects the installation. That leaves buyers guessing whether a property needs a few minor repairs or a full rewire, which can be a difference of several thousand pounds. Do I need the seller's permission?
Yes. Because we'll be testing and switching off circuits, the seller needs to agree. Estate agents are used to arranging this.
