Electrical faults are often hidden: a loose connection behind a socket, a damaged cable under the floor, or missing RCD protection. A safety check finds these problems before they cause a shock or a fire. We carry out electrical safety checks in Bury St Edmunds and across West Suffolk.

We carry out safety checks for homeowners, people looking after older relatives, tenants, small businesses and anyone who's simply never had their electrics looked at.

When a safety check makes sense

  • You've moved into a property and don't know the history of the electrics
  • You're worried about an older relative's home
  • Lights flicker, sockets feel warm or breakers trip
  • There's been a flood, leak or fire, or DIY electrical work you're unsure about
  • It's been more than ten years since anyone tested the installation
  • You're about to let, sell or renovate the property

What we check

A safety check includes a visual inspection of the consumer unit, accessories, visible wiring and earthing and bonding, plus testing of RCD operation. If you need a formal report, for example for a landlord, insurer or lender, an EICR is the right choice. We'll explain the difference so you only pay for what you need.

Electrical safety checks across West Suffolk

Based in Bury St Edmunds, we provide electrical safety checks for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Bury St Edmunds, Thetford, Needham Market, Sudbury, Newmarket, Elmswell, Great Barton and Ixworth, plus the villages in between.

Frequently asked questions

Can't see your question? Call us on 07738 271863 or use the quote form and we'll get back to you.

What's the difference between a safety check and an EICR?

A safety check is a lighter, visual-led inspection for peace of mind. An EICR is a full inspection and testing of every circuit, with a formal report and coded observations.

Will you try to sell me work?

No. We'll tell you what we find, what's urgent and what isn't. Any remedial work is quoted separately and there's no obligation.

How long does a safety check take?

Usually one to two hours for a typical home.
