Bathroom lighting and electrics
Bathrooms have their own electrical rules for good reason. We install lighting that looks great and is safe in every zone.
Water and electricity are a dangerous combination, so the wiring regulations divide bathrooms into zones around the bath and shower. Each zone has requirements for the IP rating of fittings and the type of equipment allowed. We fit bathroom lighting and electrics in Bury St Edmunds and across West Suffolk.
We'll help you choose fittings that suit both the look you want and the zone they're going in, and we make sure every circuit has the correct RCD protection.
Bathroom electrical work
- IP65-rated LED downlights over baths and showers
- Illuminated and demisting mirrors, mirror cabinets and LED strip lighting
- Extractor fans with timers or humidity sensors to prevent condensation and mould
- Shaver sockets and toothbrush charging points
- Electric showers and their dedicated circuits
- Underfloor heating and heated towel rail connections
Understanding bathroom zones
Zone 0 is inside the bath or shower tray, Zone 1 is directly above it, and Zone 2 extends around it. Fittings in Zones 1 and 2 must have a suitable IP rating against water. Outside the zones, standard rules apply, but you still can't fit ordinary sockets in a bathroom. We'll make sure everything is in the right place.
Commercial washrooms
For offices, cafés and holiday lets we install washroom lighting with presence detection, extractor fans and hand dryer circuits that keep running costs low and meet hygiene expectations.
Bathroom lighting across West Suffolk
Based in Bury St Edmunds, we provide bathroom lighting for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Bury St Edmunds, Thetford, Needham Market, Sudbury, Newmarket, Elmswell, Great Barton and Ixworth, plus the villages in between.

Frequently asked questions
Can't see your question? Call us on 07738 271863 or use the quote form and we'll get back to you.
Can I have a normal socket in my bathroom?
Standard sockets must be at least three metres from the edge of the bath or shower zones, so in most UK bathrooms they're not possible. Shaver sockets are allowed.
Why does my extractor fan need to be fitted by an electrician?
Fans are often wired into the lighting circuit with a timer or isolator, and the switching and position need to suit the bathroom zones.
Can you work with my bathroom fitter?
Yes. We'll first fix before tiling and return to fit the lights, fan and accessories once tiling is complete.
